New to Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, HBO & HBO Max, January 2021 (for horror, paranormal & genre fans)

Each month, I like to pick out the best streaming has to offer for fans of the paranormal.  This can include straight-up ghost stories like “The Conjuring” or “Poltergiest,” true crime stories, since those sometimes lead to ghost stories (HBO’s look at Richard Ramirez will likely tie in to LA’s haunted Cecil Hotel) and historical movies like “Chaplin,” which don’t feature any paranormal elements, but Chaplin’s ghost is seen at sites in LA & New York.

Of course, if you’re a fan of ghost stories, there’s a chance you like horror movies in general, SciFi flicks and movies adapted from comic books.  It’s better to include more than less, so find all of them listed below.

If there’s a title I missed, please just drop me a line or comment and I’ll update.  I’m sure we’ll also fine tune how things will be displayed going forward.

Netflix is releasing a very light slate of titles this month, but true crime seems to be their calling card this month, though the archaeology film “The Dig,” coming out at the end of the month will be on my must-watch list.  Hulu has a huge amount of interesting titles, commonly with alien invasion themes, but the headliner might be their collection of ‘80s Stephen King titles.  Amazon Prime doesn’t have a ton of new titles, but perhaps the creepiest title on this entire list could end up coming out on Jan 7 in “Gretel & Hansel.”
